The Revit team has been working to bring you new and exciting features for the 2018 release. Revit 2018 has the tools for consistent, coordinated, and complete modeling for architects, MEP, structural engineers and detailers, and construction contractors.
We'll cover how to download the latest release from your Autodesk Account Portal, as well as a new simplified way of using the Autodesk's Desktop Application.
New Measurement Tools
What is it? For our last highlighted feature, we're looking at the newly redesigned Measure Tool. One of the most common tasks used in the design process is checking the size and position of parts using the Measure Tool. In Autodesk Inventor 2018, you can now select part and component priority within the dialog box and even dock the box in numerous places in your workspace, including the Model Browser itself. The process in which you measure is not much different than it was before, but now the dialog box includes much more information, including dual units if specified.
Model Based Definition – GD&T and 3D Annotation
What is it? The demand for integration between design and manufacturing has grown and the need for more information from 3D models has become part of the design process. Based on this shift, Inventor 2018 added fully integrated Model Based Definition (MBD). Now, a user can fully design and dimension a 3D model with tolerances and further reduce or eliminate 2D documentation entirely.
The release of Autodesk Vault 2018 will have a major impact on user workflows. The new release includes the ability to publish in PDF format straight from the Vault Client as well as improvements to how Vault opens large assemblies and drawings. The workflow between Autodesk Inventor and Vault was also streamlined, making the process smoother for going back and forth between applications.
Take a closer look at some of our favorite new features and enhancements now available in Vault 2018.
AnyCAD and Backwards Compatibility
What is it? Autodesk has continued to take steps in improving the AnyCAD functionality in Inventor. This release contains what may be the largest enhancements ever since AnyCAD’s inception. Users can now use AnyCAD workflows to leverage Inventor 2018 parts and assemblies into Inventor 2017 designs.
The wait is over! Autodesk Inventor 2018 is now available to download and here's your first look at what's new. This year, Product Managers at Autodesk have focused much of their efforts on adding professional-grade design enhancements, an expansion to interoperability, and improvements to the user-experience.
The 2018 release of AutoCAD brings new features that allow you to stay at the forefront of the design world. Create and share precise drawings with innovative productivity and collaboration tools and save time with new tools to fix broken paths for externally referenced files. The SHX text recognition tool quickly converts imported PDF geometry to text objects and you’ll also notice improvements in 3D navigation when zooming and panning.
Let’s dive right into all the new features in AutoCAD 2018 and discover how these features will have a drastic impact on your workflow.
