Import AutoCAD Drawings to Inventor

by Eric Paul on Jun 13, 2017

Two-Dimensional tools aren't going away any time soon. AutoCAD started the trend of computer-aided design, and a large portion of the CAD userbase still uses it to design parts and assemblies.

Autodesk's 3D modeling solution, Inventor, allows users to utilize existing 2D data to quickly generate 3D models, using the DWG Underlay Technology in Inventor. No longer does one need to choose between a 2D or 3D workflow. Instead the two can co-exist, allowing users to benefit from the simplicity of a 2D drawing, or the power of a 3D model.

Join Nathan Eliason, Senior Technical Specialist, for this session of Autodesk Virtual Academy as he demonstrates how to bring 2D AutoCAD drawings into your Inventor models and quickly generate associative 3D data - increasing design efficiency and expanding your workflow options.

Autodesk Virtual Academy: Inventor 3D PDF

by Nigel Ambayec on Dec 13, 2016

Export Model to 3D PDF is a great feature in Inventor that allows you to share your projects with stakeholders and team members who may not have CAD software. The PDFs created include 3D views of the design with the ability to take measurements and interact with the design on an in-depth level.

In this session of Autodesk Virtual Academy, Rich Sanchez goes over how to get up and running with 3D PDFs. With a major improvement in collaboration, you’ll learn how this feature will help your team build better products.

Autodesk Virtual Academy: Modifying 2D Sketches in Inventor

by Daniel Hwang on Nov 23, 2016

Inventor is a powerful CAD tool that primarily uses parametric modeling. However, there's much more this tool can do in regards to modeling. Inventor comes with vector-based modeling tools, making it a great tool for anyone moving to the 3D world with a traditional 2D background.

In this session of Autodesk Virtual Academy, we go over the various tools such as trim, extend, and offset found in Inventor to help modify and optimize your 2D sketches. We also illustrates how to share your sketches and when this feature might be useful.

Autodesk Virtual Academy: Fusion 360 - From CAD to CAM

by Nigel Ambayec on Oct 24, 2016

Are you currently using separate CAD and CAM tools in your workflow? If so, you run the risk of getting lost in translation and decreasing productivity.

There’s a better way!

This recap of an Autodesk Virtual Academy webcast includes Autodesk CAD / CAM Applications Engineer Wayne Griffenberg as he dives into the capabilities of Fusion 360 CAM. He illustrates how Fusion 360 allows you to break down the barriers of traditional CAD to CAM workflows.
